LG Twins' Eliaser Hernandez (29) became the first foreign player to record a semi-playoff game. 

Hernandez made a relief appearance in Game 5 of the "2024 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League" semi-playoff against KT Wiz at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 11th and earned a scoreless save in one inning with one walk and one strikeout. 안전놀이터

Taking the mound in the top of the ninth inning with LG leading 4-1, Hernandez gave up a walk to leadoff hitter Jang Sung-woo. However, he allowed Kang to strike out with a swing and miss, and ended the game by inducing Hwang to play 6-4-3 double play. By winning 4-1, LG succeeded in advancing to the playoffs with three wins and two losses. 

Hernandez, who had three wins, two losses and one hold and one save with an earned run average of 4.02 in 11 games (47 innings) during the regular season, started pitching as a relief pitcher from the second half of the season, and prepared to operate the postseason bullpen. In the semi-playoff, he firmly defended LG's back door and led the team to the playoffs. 

Hernandez, who appeared in relief at the top of the eighth inning when LG was losing 2-3, pitched two innings of one hit, three strikeouts and no runs. In the second game, when LG was leading 4-1, he pitched at the top of the sixth inning with one out and two strikeouts, and recorded one hit, two walks, and a scoreless hold in the first ⅔. After a day's rest, Hernandez took the mound with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning when LG was leading 6-5, securing a scoreless save in the first ⅔ inning. In the fourth game, when the two teams were tying at 5-5, he pitched two innings of three hits, four strikeouts, and no runs. 

Having played in all of the games through Game 5, Hernandez played a key role in advancing to the playoffs by posting three wins and two losses with an earned run average of 0.00 in five games (seven ⅓ innings). He played in Jeon Kyung-gi (five games) in the semi-playoff, which is the highest ever tie. Hernandez is the first foreign pitcher. With closer Yoo Young-chan's father injury causing him to lose control of his condition, Hernandez completely filled the vacancy. 

"I think it would be best to end with Lim Chan-kyu, Son Joo-young and Hernandez today," LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop said in an interview before the game. "I'm grateful that Hernandez always has positive thoughts. In the fourth game, I said, "If I score a point, I will throw another inning. I was very touched. I think that's what matters," praising Hernandez's dedication.

Lim Chan-gyu was chosen as the Daily MVP and the Semi-Playoff Series MVP in Game 5. In the semi-playoff MVP voting, Lim Chan-gyu collected 34 out of 67 votes and Hernandez came in second with 19 votes. Coach Yeom Kyung-yeop said in an interview after the game, "I think the MVP was Hernandez. I think that heart was passed on to our players and I was able to work harder. Although I am a foreign player, I think my role was great," adding that he picked Hernandez as the best semi-playoff player. Lim Chan-gyu also acknowledged Hernandez's dedication by saying, "The MVP in my heart is Hernandez. I hope he knows better in the future."
